Dreamworks Megamind

11.06.09 | No Comments

On November 2, 2009, DreamWorks Animation filed to protect the trademark DreamWorks Megamind in relation to a variety of good and services that include animated motion pictures, DVDs, CDs, soundtracks, videogames and action figures.

Mork suspects that DreamWorks Animation may have chosen to rename Oobermind, an in-development project being directed by Tom McGrath (Madagascar, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa) and executive produced by Ben Stiller.

The animated film (formerly titled Master Mind) will star Robert Downey Jr. and Tina Fey, and it slated to be released on November 5, 2010. When super villain Oobermind defeats his arch rival Metro Man, the world should be his oyster. Instead, Oobermind falls into total despair. So he creates a new rival. Unfortunately, the new hero wants to be a super villain too!

If the Megamind title has nothing to do with Oobermind, Mork figures Dreamworks Animation may be expanding into nutritional supplements or Nordic clubbing.

UPDATE: reports that Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill have joined a cast led by Tina Fey to lend their voices for Dreamworks Animation’s upcoming feature Oobermind. Ferrell reportedly replaces Robert Downey Jr. in the title role of a supervillain in the animated comedy.
