Update: Over two and a half months after Mork reported the name change, Pizza Hut unveiled plans today (April 1, 2008) to introduce a line of new Tuscani pastas on April 6th. The nation’s largest pizza chain said the Pasta Hut name is just an April Fool’s joke to bring attention to their new pasta items, and launched a new website to promote their new pasta items: newpastahut.com.

On January 10, 2008, international restaurant chain Pizza Hut, Inc filed to protect the trademark Pasta Hut in relation to “restaurant services”. This is the company’s first trademark application for this name, as well as the first indication that Pizza Hut is considering opening restaurants using the Pasta Hut brand name.
Pizza Hut is the world’s largest pizza restaurant chain and is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc., whose restaurants total approximately 34,000 restaurants, delivery-carry out units, and kiosks in 100 countries. In 2002, Yum! Brands global sales totaled more than $9 billion. Yum! Brands operates or licenses A&W (excluding Canada), KFC, Long John Silver’s, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell restaurants worldwide.
Mork wants to go to Japan and try the “Crab & Shrimp Mayo King” pizza, which includes snow crab, shrimp, broccoli, onion, and corn. Yum!
