On January 25, 2008, online discount travel site hotels.com filed a new application to protect the trademark hotels.com in relation to “travel agency services, namely making reservations and bookings for transportation and providing information concerning travel and providing travel and information over computer networks and global communication networks”. Because, you know, that’s what they do.
The new filing gives us a glimpse at a possible new logo and new branding for the site. Although the real logo would likely be rendered in color, Mork still thinks the new logo design is a bit more modern and sophisticated than the current logo. Maybe a little too modern and sophisticated for the discount hotel crowd? We’ll see…
The little arrows above and below the “o” are meant to suggest, what?…that the “o” is an elevator button and the arrows are up and down arrows? Or is it more of a directional map type thing? In any case, hotels.com has looked pretty outdated for a while. Its about time for a logo and design face lift.

I like the new logo way better than the old one. I’m not sure what the arrows are supposed to represent, but the new logo looks cleaner and more professional. It won’t make me book any more tickets there, but its nice to see them getting a facelift.
I like the new logo as well. It was most certainly time for a face lift for Hotels Dot Com.
I am pretty sure the up and down arrows represent the Hotels elevator buttons.
