On November 27, 2007, Motorola, Inc. filed to protect the trademark ZINE in relation to “mobile telephones” as well as “electronic personal organizers, computer software and programs, computer e-commerce software, computer software for sending and receiving short messages and electronic mail, digital cameras, video cameras” and “wireless telephone services”.
This confirms rumors on Engadget and Gizmodo, among other fine sites, regarding Motorola’s possible use of the ZINE name.
Mork suggests being careful when you type ZINE. One slight slip to the left on the keyboard and you’re stuck with a ZUNE.
