Ubibox

10.18.07 | No Comments

On August 21, 2007, video game publisher Ubisoft filed to protect the trademark Ubibox. The filing states the trademark is related to “computer software for the management, transmission, storage and sharing of computer game programs and electronically stored information across computer networks to users, for downloading and use of games by users”.

Put simply, this suggests a Live Folders / SkyDrive type of online storage and sharing service, allowing players of Ubisoft games to save and share custom games, custom maps, saved films, screenshots and other game-related files.

Mork also thinks that Ubibox is an interesting name choice, and wonders if this service will have any relation to Box.net, one of the Web’s largest file sharing and storage services, who is adapting their file-sharing application for various third parties. Maybe not, but Mork’s just sayin’…
