On January 8, 2008, Samsung Electronics filed to protect the trademark SyncPaper in relation to “electronic ink display devices”. The filing suggests the potential devices would include “computers, computer monitors, workstations, telephones, digital multimedia broadcasting receivers, MP3 players, television receivers, electronic calculators, notebook computers, CD players, DVD players, personal digital assistants and mobile telephones”.
Mork suspects that this might be the brand Samsung will use for products that will utilize their super-thin PCB (printed circuit board) technology, or for a future Samsung electronic reader like the Amazon Kindle or Sony Reader. E-ink (and e-paper) technology is also being used for products like watches and cell phones.
Mork wonders why they have “CD players” on the list. Samsung might as well make a SyncPaper 8-Track Tape Player while they’re at it. Its called an iPod folks. Buy one.
