SocialAds

On September 24, 2007, social networking website Facebook filed to protect the trademark SocialAds in relation to “advertising and information distribution services, namely, providing advertising space via the global computer network”. This appears to confirm widespread rumors regarding the name of Facebook’s new social ad network that they plan to reveal on Novermber 6, 2007. SocialAds will be similar to Google’s AdSense, except that it will target ads to Facebook members’ individual interests and profile info instead of the text on a given Web page.

Mork could have broken this story a month ago if he would have been paying closer attention. That’s what he gets for being anti-social and spending too much time on the MySpaces.

UPDATE: On October 30, 2007, Facebook also filed to protect the trademark Social Ads, the two-word variation of the aforementioned trademark.
