On December 17, 2007, American internet services company Yahoo! Inc. filed to protect the trademark Pingbox in relation to “downloadable computer software”. Great. Could you be a little more specific there, Yahoo!?
Mork’s a little lazy tonight, and hopped up on some decent eggnog. So, here’s his best best guess at what this might be:
One of the only seemingly relevant pages that pops up with both “Yahoo” and “ping” on it is a Yahoo! Widget related to internet connection speed and status called Jashsoft Ping Tool by Jashsoft Corporation. So, Yahoo! buys it and calls it Pingbox. No? Okay, it gets a little less-relevant from here…
There’s the Target Pingbox, which is a feature of TargetHelpDesk software. There’s the MediaWiki pingbox entension. And there’s Pingbox Web Development in the UK, whose pingbox.co.uk site doesn’t seem to have much going on.
So, there we are. Mork’s going to have another glass of eggnog, and wait until someone can tell him what this is about.
