On October 18, 2007, a concern called PixRGB, LLC out of Redmond, Washington filed to protect the name iHorseoogle in relation to online retail services. A quick visit to iHorseoogle.com reveals a “horse enthusiasts show and tail community” which is part of Horseoogle, a “dynamic horse directory” at Horseoogle.com.
Mork can imagine how that branding meeting went: “Okay, so all the kids are fiddlin’ with that there iPod gadget. So, if we choose a name, we should definitely put an “i” in front of it, so we sound hip and cool. And the site is about horses. So, it’d probably be a good idea to have the word “horse” in there somewhere. And this IS a directory-search-engine thing. So, if we tack an “oogle” on the end of it, it’ll sound like “Google”, which’ll be a sort of subtle cue that this is a search directory. So, you got your “i”…you got your “horse” and you got your “oogle”. How about…iHorseoogle? That’s brilliant! Trademark that before someone else does!”
Or something like that. Awesome.
