Update: Ubisoft Announces Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. And there it is. Ubisoft has also registered hawxgame.com for a future website.
_____
On March 10, 2008, French video game publisher and developer Ubisoft Entertainment filed to protect the trademark H.A.W.X in relation to “game software and electronic game programs”. Additional filings cover “related products and entertainment services in the nature of production of television programs” as well as “toy action figures, plush toys and accessories” and “computer game instruction manuals”.
Mork was unable, at the present time, to connect the H.A.W.X name to Ubisoft, or to much else, for that matter. Kotaku reported back in February 2008 that Ubisoft had filed to protect the trademark Strike Hawk in relation to a video game. Maybe there’s some connection there.
So, that leaves little indication as to what H.A.W.X stands for or what the game will be. Unless Ubisoft is doing a wrestling game featuring indy pro-wrestler Luke Hawx (real name: Owen Hawxhurst). But that seems about as unlikely as getting Michael Jackson away from his copy of Duel Love for the DS.
