On December 28, 2007, American video game company Interplay filed to protect the trademarks GamesOnline and GamesOnline.com in relation to online and downloadable games. These filings are renewals of trademarks for GamesOnline and GamesOnline.com that were filed in 2001 but abandoned in 2002 following Interplay’s massive financial troubles.

Interplay has owned the GamesOnline.com domain since 1996. While they used to maintain a website, a new site is currently under construction.

Further signs that Interplay is restarting its development studio include the recent (December 2007) registering or re-registering of trademarks related to its past games, including Descent, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, Die By The Sword, Clay Fighter, Run Like Hell, Virtual Chess, Stonekeep, Lionheart and Messiah.

Mork wonders if there will be a Clay Fighter 63 2/3 or if they’ll go straight to Clay Fighter 64.
