  On February 5, 2008, Apple Inc. filed to protect their Apple trademark in relation to "hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games".   On January 29, 2008, electronics behemoth LG Electronics filed to protect the trademark FaceFon in relation to "telephones; videophones; cellular telephones; wireless local loop telephones; telephone handsets; computer telephony software (enables telephone activities to be performed through a computer); computer terminals". LG filed for the FaceFon trademark way back in 1999. But a quick search indicates that LG never publicly acknowledged any products or services using the name. While LG-Nortel has developed a range of IP phones and videophones, as well as computer and VoIP (voice over IP) hardware, no mention of the FaceFon brand appears anywhere.   On January 25, 2008, online discount travel site hotels.com filed a new application to protect the trademark hotels.com in relation to "travel agency services, namely making reservations and bookings for transportation and providing information concerning travel and providing travel and information over computer networks and global communication networks". Because, you know, that's what they do. The new filing gives us a glimpse at a possible new logo and new branding for the site.   Back on November 27, 2007, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, Inc. stealthily filed to protect the trademark LAZR in relation to "televisions". This went unnoticed until Mitsubishi's January 24, 2008 filings for the trademarks LAZRTV and LAZRTELEVISION. Okay, Mitsubishi, we think we get it...
