  Shrek Goes Fourth

  On June 6, 2007, DreamWorks Animation filed to protect the trademark Shrek Goes Fourth for a variety of goods and services related to the fourth installment of their Shrek series of feature-length animated films. DreamWorks also registered the title Shrek Goes Forth in which Shrek becomes a programmer. Kidding. The "Shrek Goes Fourth" title was just announced a couple of days ago on November 3rd. If Mork had been doing this back in June, he could have broke this story months ago! Coulda-shoulda-woulda.

  On October 29, 2007, PepsiCo filed to protect the trademark Mountain Dew Warrior in relation to a soft drink. On the same date, PepsiCo also filed to protect the trademarks Mountain Dew Firestorm, Mountain Dew Hi-Res and Mountain Dew All-4-1. At present, there's nothing that suggests these names are or will be related to each other in any way, or what their flavors will be.   Bloodlust

  On October 25, 2007, video game developer Ubisoft filed to protect the trademark Bloodlust in relation to video game software and an on-line computer game, as well as "entertainment services in the nature of production of television programs". The name Bloodlust has been used for a variety of things, including a couple of B-movies, a French role playing game and a minor Marvel Comics villain. But none of these suggest any connection to Ubisoft's use of the name. Unless Ubisoft is making the game version of the 1961 thriller Bloodlust! starring Robert Reed.   On October 30, 2007, technology, entertainment and investment company Vulcan, Inc. filed to protect the trademark Backchannel TV in relation to computer hardware and software, and electronic receivers and transmitters "for transmitting, receiving, monitoring, viewing, tracking, storing, securing, converting and processing a combination of digital video, audio, images and text content and data". Sounds to Mork like a box and/or service similar to Apple TV or TiVo. Vulcan, Inc. is the private asset management company of Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft.   Expedia On The Go

  On October 26, 2007, travel website Expedia filed to protect the trademark Expedia On The Go in relation to "providing notifications to travelers and others concerning itineraries, flights, weather, accommodations, destinations, and events via telephone, computer and electronic communications networks". The name will also be used in relation to "making reservations for transportation and travel" as well as "temporary accommodations and dining reservations via telephone, computer and electronic communications networks".   On October 26, 2007, Yahoo! Inc filed to protect the trademark Bravonation. The filing relates the mark to "non-downloadable software to create on-line media and badges used to acknowledge and display achievements" and "providing a service that allows people and entities to recognize achievements and create incentives by way of electronic awards". With the use of "badges" and "achievements" in one filing, Mork's guess is that Yahoo! is preparing to roll out an XBox Live-style achievement system for a collection of their popular games, where players earn special badges for completing tasks or levels or defeating certain bosses.
