  On November 7, 2007, The Simpsons creator Matt Groening filed to protect the trademark Life In Hell, in relation to his long-running comic featuring Akbar and Jeff and a bunch of anthropomorphic rabbits. This new filing, however, departs from previous filings and covers "entertainment services, namely, an ongoing television series featuring animated and live-action programs, comedy, drama and music; production of television programs containing animated and live-action programs, comedy, drama and music; production and distribution of feature films containing animated and live-action programs, comedy, drama and music".   Equator

  On November 5, 2007, American Suzuki Motor Corporation filed to protect the trademark Equator in relation to "automotive vehicles, namely, trucks, sport-utility vehicles and automobiles". A quick search for "Suzuki Equator" results in absolutely nothing. The only vehicle that emerges related to the Equator name is the Ford Equator Concept unveiled at the 2005 Toyko Auto Show. The Equator concept was a sleeker, more powerful version of the Ford Escape. Mork will keep an eye on announcements from the upcoming 2007 LA Auto Show to see if there's any mention of the Suzuki Equator.

  On November 5, 2007, American auto company General Motors Corporation filed to protect the trademark Vapor in relation to "motor land vehicles, namely automobiles, sport utility vehicles, trucks and vans". A quick search doesn't connect the name "Vapor" with any specific GM brand or GM concept car.   User-submitted news rating and discussion site Digg recently refiled to protect their trademark. In their original Digg filing on February 27, 2006, the entry for the "telecommunications" code and classes reads: "providing online public commentary in the nature of online chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards for transmission of messages among users in the field of general interest." This sounds like the Digg we all know and, well...love or hate, depending on who you are.   Mountain Dew Voltage

  On November 5, 2007, Coca-Cola rival PepsiCo filed to protect the trademark Mountain Dew Voltage in relation to a soft drink. In addition, they also filed to protect the names Mountain Dew Resurgence, Mountain Dew Brain Storm and Mountain Dew Collaboration. These names are in addition to Mountain Dew Force Field, Mountain Dew Warrior, and a bunch of other names PepsiCo has recently registered. Mork thinks some of these names are a little weird. Maybe PepsiCo should have a contest to name the next Mountain Dew soda. Yeah, like that'll happen.

  So, yeah. On November 5, 2007, Donna Kay Welsh from Weeniedog Enterprises in Seattle Washington filed to protect the trademark Santa-pon in relation to, uh...a "tampon decorated as a Santa and used as a Christmas ornament". Wow. Nothing celebrates the birth of our lord and savior like menstrual product tree ornaments!   Mountain Dew Force Field

  On November 1, 2007, hardcore beverage producer PepsiCo filed to protect the trademark Mountain Dew Force Field in relation to a soft drink. But it doesn't stop there. PepsiCo also filed to protect the names Mountain Dew Colorfy and Mountain Dew Beta in relation to even more soft drinks. PepsiCo's on a roll, having recently filed to protect other names for potential Mountain Dew Flavors. Mork's having a type-2 freakout just thinking about all that high fructose corn syrup.

  On October 31, 2007, Google Inc. filed to protect the trademark Android in relation to their recently-announced open and comprehensive software platform for mobile devices. Google developed Android through an alliance of technology and mobile industry leaders called the Open Handset Alliance. While Google insists that there's no GPhone on the way, and that handset makers such as Motorola will be providing the hardware, its worth noting that the trademark filing covers "hardware" in addition to "software", just in case Google changes its mind.
