  On October 18, 2007, a concern called PixRGB, LLC out of Redmond, Washington filed to protect the name iHorseoogle in relation to online retail services. A quick visit to iHorseoogle.com reveals a "horse enthusiasts show and tail community" which is part of Horseoogle, a "dynamic horse directory" at Horseoogle.com. Mork can imagine how that branding meeting went: "Okay, so all the kids are fiddlin' with that there iPod gadget.   Billy Bob

  On October 19, 2007, singer, actor, director and screenwriter Billy Bob Thornton filed to protect the trademark Billy Bob as well as the initials BBT in relation to restaurant and bar services. There are a couple of registrations involving restaurants using a form of the Billy Bob name, but they've been abandoned. Mork doesn't reckon they'll be serving Bad Santa Burgers or Sling Blade Sausages at the ol' BBT. But maybe they'll be projecting Chopper Chicks in Zombietown on the wall over the pool table.   Extend

  On October 17, 2007, American automaker Ford Motor Company filed to protect the trademark Extend in relation to a "plug-in hybrid automobile". Just in the last few months, Ford has stated that a variety of plug-in hybrids are in development, and given a general timeframe (5 to 10 years) for their release. In addition, Ford recently teamed up with Southern California Edison to explore new solutions and technologies related to plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles.   Jungle Friends

  Fans of the animal-sim game Pony Friends for the Nintendo DS are in for some more virtual-pet goodness. On October 16, 2007, video game developer Eidos Interactive filed to trademark the name Jungle Friends in relation to a video game. But there's more! Eidos has also filed to protect the names Ocean Friends, Dino Friends and Safari Friends. Geez! With this many friends, who needs a PSP? UPDATE: You can add Monkey Friends to the list.   Brain Assist

  On October 16, 2007, video game developer Sega Corporation filed to protect the trademark Brain Assist in relation to a video game. Sounds like Sega is jumping on the "brain games" bandwagon lead by Nintendo's Brain Age. Or are they driving the wagon? Sega started this whole thing in 2005 with Brain Trainer Portable for the PSP. Released only in Japan, Sega's a little late to the US party. Better late than never. Update: Sega announces Brain Assist on November, 8, 2007...more than 2 weeks after Mork broke the story!

  On August 18, 2007, Activision, publisher of the video game Guitar Hero, filed to protect the trademarks Rocktober and Legends of Rocktober, in relation to a video game. With Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock scheduled for release on October 28, 2007, Mork can't help think there's some relation. Or maybe Activision has teamed up to develop a baseball video game with the Colorado Rockies, who have recently made news by filing on October 4, 2007 for exclusive rights to the name Rocktober for a wide variety of goods and services.   On August 24, 2007, singer-actor Andre Benjamin, also known as Andre 3000 from the hip hop duo Outkast, filed to protect the trademark The Vultures. In addition to the filing that covers the music, additional filings were made to protect in the name in relation to live performances and music videos, a variety of printed materials as well as a variety of clothing items and apparel. These recent filings seem to suggest Benjamin's renewed interest in the name, which he attempted to trademark for sound recordings and performances back in 2002 but abandoned in 2006.   On August 21, 2007, video game publisher Ubisoft filed to protect the trademark Ubibox. The filing states the trademark is related to "computer software for the management, transmission, storage and sharing of computer game programs and electronically stored information across computer networks to users, for downloading and use of games by users". Put simply, this suggests a Live Folders / SkyDrive type of online storage and sharing service, allowing players of Ubisoft games to save and share custom games, custom maps, saved films, screenshots and other game-related files.
